Some businesses in QC to reopen as Metro Manila shifts to GCQ

Some businesses in Quezon City (QC) will be allowed to reopen on Monday as Metro Manila shifts to a more relaxed general community quarantine.

According to Dano Tingcungco’s report on “24 Oras Weekend,” some residents are wary over the reopening of many establishments.

“Medyo kabado lang dahil nga wala pa rin cure tapos maglalabasan ‘yung mga tao. Ingat ingat na lang siguro,” Andrew Sta Ana said.

Under a QC government resolution, businesses engaged in food, water, non-alcoholic beverages, manufacturing, distribution, or preparation, and hawkers or ambulant vendors may resume full operations.

Those involved in the manufacture of alcoholic beverages may operate at 50 percent capacity.

Other businesses that will be allowed to reopen starting Monday are the following:

  • Hardware
  • Bookstore
  • Electronics
  • IT
  • Flower shops
  • Novelty items
  • Toys
  • Malls
  • Firearms trading
  • Funeral services
  • Professional consulting and technical services

All businesses that offer leisure services are still not permitted to operate.

Meanwhile, in Pasig City, restrictions have also been eased but the public may only go out for essential travel.

There is still a ban on mass gatherings while public transit can only operate at 50 percent capacity. Julia Mari Ornedo/DVM, GMA News
