Over 1,500 people tested in Manila's drive-thru testing, says Mayor Isko

Manila City Mayor Isko Moreno on Monday said more than 1,500 individuals have been tested in the city's drive-thru testing for COVID-19, which has been attracting people even from outside the city since it started operations last week.

"As of today, since Wednesday, including both... because last Saturday due to the overwhelming demand, we opened another one in Quirino, we had already tested about 1,576 individuals," Moreno said in an interview on Unang Hirit.

Moreno said of that total number, 1,048 are Manila residents while 528 are from other cities and municipalities.

The mayor also bared the latest results of the tests conducted in the previous days: "Sa awa ng Diyos, 1,326 ang nagnegatibo at 174 naman 'yung nagpositibo."

The city's drive-thru testing centers in Lawton and in Quirino Grandstand are free and open to everyone, and operate from Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

"In Lawton, we can accommodate 200... in Grandstand, 700 so kung maaga kayo, maagap kayo, aakapin namin kayo as much as possible. Kung halimbawa naman natapos na 'yung aming capacity then tomorrow is another day," Moreno said.

Since it was only a rapid-test, medical workers take an individual's blood instead of a nasal swab. Moreno previously said the test results are similar to that of the RT/PCR testing. —KBK, GMA News
