LTFRB summons driver, operator of bus caught speeding on EDSA busway

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) on Friday issued an order directing a bus company to explain after one of its units was caught on video speeding on EDSA busway.

The LTFRB Legal Division said the show cause order against the driver and operator of Joanna Jesh Transport (CAP 5133) will be served Friday morning and the en banc hearing  on the matter will be on 9 a.m., July 28.

Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) spokesperson Assistant Secretary Celine Pialago said they will recommend to the Land Transportation Office to suspend the license of the driver involved.

“We will also RECOMMEND suspension of drivers license to LTO,” she said in a message to reporters.

The Department of Transportation reminded bus drivers not to abuse the use of EDSA busway as it was set up to help them and their passengers.

It said it received from various netizens the video of the speeding vehicle posted by Steven Tagle.

The agency said it will not tolerate speeding buses as it puts the lives of the passengers and other commuters in danger.

“Ano po ang dahilan para magpatakbo na parang nakikipag-karera? Ano ang dahilan para ilagay ninyo sa alanganin ang buhay ng mga pasahero ninyo at iba pang taong gumagamit ng kalsada? HINDI PO NAMIN ITO MAPAPALAMPAS,” it said in a Facebook post.

"Kahit anong ganda ng proyekto, kung kaskasero at walang disiplina ang gumagamit nito, balewala," DOTR added.—AOL, GMA News
