6 Chinese, 1 Filipino nabbed for alleged kidnapping of POGO worker in Parañaque

Six Chinese nationals and one Filipino were arrested by operatives of the Philippine National Police Anti-Kidnapping Group for alleged involvement in the kidnapping of a Chinese national in Parañaque City.

Authorities on Tuesday said a police rescue operation was conducted past 11 p.m. of July 27 at QROI 199 along Roxas Boulevard wherein cops rescued Chinese national Le Chen from alleged kidnappers.

Arrested were Gao Tong Tong, Tian Yu, Liang Kai, Cheng Yong Qing, Zhang Bo Xu, Wang Xuan, and Edgar Ortiz.

Police received a complaint from the victim's live-in partner, Mariel Mirabel, that the kidnappers were demanding P84,000 for the safe release of the victim.

Investigators said on July 12, the victim applied to be a POGO worker at SPARC company. Days after, he was fetched by a Chinese national for an interview and brought to Barangay Tambo for employment.

However, Mirabel received a message from her partner saying that he was forced to work on online gambling. The victim also said he was detained by the suspects.

The kidnappers allegedly threatened that if the victim's camp would not provide money, he would be sold to another company.

Seized from the suspects were some cellphones and laptops, police said.
