COVID-19 cases in QC now 6,646; over 2,000 still active


COVID-19 cases in Quezon City climbed to 6,646 on Friday, up by 194 from Thursday's tally, according to data from the mayor's office.

Of these cases, 6,552 have complete addresses in the city.

As of July 31, 2,586 of the COVID-19 cases in the city are still active. The number of COVID-19 survivors is at 3,634 after 121 new recoveries were recorded.

The death toll, on the other hand, was at 302 with five new fatalities logged.

Districts 4, 1, and 6 have recorded the highest infections in Quezon City with over 1,000 COVID-19 cases each.

These 12 areas of "special concern" were placed under lockdown for clustering of cases:

  • Maparaan St. to 87 Kalayaan St. in Central
  • Ruby Stone HOA in Kaligayahan
  • Sitio Ruby in Fairview
  • 5A Cenacle Compound in Culiat
  • Mariveles St.  in Paang Bundok
  • 238 Mayon Ave. in Maharlika
  • Howmart Road, Portions of Alley 2 and 3 in Baesa
  • No. 8A, Mariveles St. in Sta. Teresita
  • 85-91 Gumamela St., 1-3 Umbel St, in Roxas
  • 950 Interior, Aurora Blvd. in Mangga
  • 113 Kamuning Road in Kamuning
  • Ambuklao Alley in Baesa

Quarantine facilities, gov't hospitals

According to the Quezon City government, only six out of the 45 beds in its Hope 1 isolation facility are currently available for more COVID-positive and suspected patients.

Its Hope 2 facility has 227 beds occupied and 149 beds free.

The 82-bed Hope 3 facility, catering to confirmed and suspected COVID-19 nursing mothers and their babies, has 22 available beds.

The 35 COVID-19 beds in the Novaliches District Hospital are all occupied as of July 31.

Rosario Maclang Bautista General Hospital has 19 out of 21 beds occupied, while 89 of the 103 coronavirus-dedicated beds in Quezon City General Hospital are currently in use. — DVM, GMA News
