NO QR CODE, NO ENTRY

PasigPass QR code required at Pasig Mega Market

Market goers without the PasigPass QR code were not allowed entry inside the Pasig Mega Market on Sunday, the second day of such policy.

At the entrance of the market, Pasig residents had to show their QR code on their mobile phones, according to a report by Mark Makalalad on Dobol B sa News TV.

They also have to wear face mask and face shield before being allowed in.

The Pasig local government unit rolled out the PasigPass contact tracing app last October as one of its measures to curb the further transmission of COVID-19.

The Pasig Health Monitoring office will then receive all the data from the app and will conduct contact tracing as needed.

As of December 1, a total of 699,938 individuals and 1,754 establishments have registered at the PasigPass website for the QR code, the LGU said. Individuals aged 18 years old and above may register for a PasigPass.

Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto has earlier assured the data gathered from the app will be kept secure.

Meanwhile, the Pasig and Valenzuela LGUs signed an interconnectivity agreement last week to accept each other's QR codes for faster contact tracing.

Starting Monday, Dec. 7, Valenzuela's Valtrace QR code will be accepted in Pasig, while the PasigPass QR code will be accepted in Valenzuela.

"Maraming taga Valenzuela ang nagtratrabaho sa Pasig lalo na sa Ortigas Center. Natuklasan ko din na may mga companies sa Pasig na nagdedeliver sa factories ng Valenzuela para sa packaging needs nila. Simula Monday, tatangapin na ang Valtrace QR code sa Pasig. At tatangapin na ang Pasig Pass QR code sa Valenzuela. (No new scanners needed)...at least now 1 QR code na lang ang kailangan para sa 2 cities. Salamat Pasig at Mayor Vico Sotto," Valenzuela City Mayor Rex Gatchalian posted on Twitter on Dec. 4.

As of December 2, data from the Department of Health and shared by Pasig LGU showed that the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the city has reached 8,915.

Of this number, 8,405 recovered; 362 died; while 148 are active. —KG, GMA News
