Taguig cop nabbed for alleged robbery-extortion —IMEG

A Taguig City policeman allegedly involved in robbery-extortion was arrested by operatives of the Philippine National Police-Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group on Wednesday.

On Thursday, the PNP-IMEG identified the accused cop as Police Staff Sergeant Carlo Marsaba Sison who was assigned at the Tipas Police Substation. He was arrested during an entrapment operation along Napindan Road, Barangay Napindan.

Police said that during the entrapment operation, Sison was caught in the act of receiving P15,000 cash from the complainant. They said the cop was placed under surveillance following complaints regarding his illegal acts.

According to the police, Sison supposedly told the complainant his name was on the list of suspected drug personalities.

Then Sison allegedly said he could clear the complainant's name in exchange for P15,000.

"It turned out that the suspect was just using the scheme to mulct money from unsuspecting civilians in his area. We are now investigating if he had also victimized several other people before he was arrested," Police Colonel Thomas Frias, PNP-IMEG's officer-in-charge said.

Seized from the suspect were his PNP-issued Glock 17 semi-automatic pistol; P15,000 cash used as marked money; and two mobile phones.

Sison is now under the custody of the PNP-IMEG and was ordered disarmed by National Capital Region Police Office acting director Police Brigadier General Vicente Danao.

Criminal and administrative charges will be filed against him. —LBG, GMA News
