Kidnap suspect arrested in Manila -PNP


A kidnap suspect was arrested in San Miguel, Manila on Thursday morning, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said.

PNP chief Police General Debold Sinas identified the suspect as Jehan Aklul, also known as Khalid Akhalul or Abu Khalid, who was allegedly involved in the kidnapping of three foreigners and a Filipina in Samal Island in 2015.

Sinas said Aklul was the subject of a warrant of arrest issued by the Regional Trial Court, 11th Judicial Region Branch 34 of Panabo City for the crime of kidnapping with homicide.

Also arrested in the operation was one Mohammad Amara Muslimin for possession of two hand grenades, a detonating cord, and one blasting cap inside their rented residence in Barangay 648.

The PNP said Aklul was involved in the kidnapping of John Ridsdel and Robert Hall, both Canadian nationals; Kjartan Sekkingstad, a Norwegian; and a Filipina identified as Tess on September 21, 2015.

Police said the victims were transferred to Sulu from Samal. The Canadians were beheaded while the Norwegian and the Filipina were released in 2017.—AOL, GMA News
