3 devotees fainted during Black Nazarene feast -Manila DRRMO

At least three devotees fainted during the Feast of the Black Nazarene in Manila on Saturday, according to the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO).

Interviewed on Super Radyo dzBB, MDRRMO Director Arnel Angeles said one incident involved a woman who had just finished her nine-day novena.

After the novena, the woman became dizzy and her blood pressure shot up along Carlos Palanca Street.

The victim was given medical attention at the Manila Doctors Hospital. No other details were available about the two other fainting incidents as of posting time.

Ambulances and medics were on stand-by in case of untoward incidents, Angeles said.

In contrast to the "sea of people" in past years, the number of devotees occupying the two main streets leading to the Quiapo Church rose to nearly half a million on Saturday morning on the Feast of the Black Nazarene, the Manila Police District said, amid a COVID-19 pandemic that has so far infected more than 483,000 in the Philippines. -Jamil Santos/MDM, GMA News
