NBI completes forensic examination on Christine Dacera’s remains — Guevarra

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has completed its forensic examination of tissues obtained from flight attendant Christine Dacera's remains, Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said Monday.

Guevarra said the NBI is now coordinating with the Makati Medical Center, where Dacera was taken after she was found unconscious in the bathtub of a hotel room following a celebration with friends on January 1.

He said he will leave it to the NBI to release the results of the forensic examination.

The NBI earlier said it had extracted at least 100 milliliters of urine from Dacera's remains and said this will help them check for the presence of alcohol or illegal drugs.

Forensic pathologist Raquel Fortun said the supposed extraction raised more questions, considering that the police earlier reported that Dacera's bladder was empty.

Guevarra ordered the NBI to investigate the flight attendant's death upon finding that the initial police investigation was "not thorough enough."

Police had detained three of Dacera's New Year's Eve companions but prosecutors ordered them released for further investigation.

Eleven men face a criminal complaint for rape with homicide that is being investigated by the Makati prosecutor's office.

The NBI has also completed its investigation of the 12 occupants of the nearby hotel room Dacera had visited a number of times before she died. — RSJ, GMA News
