MMDA secures funding for elevated bus ramps on EDSA

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) can now start the process for the construction of elevated bus ramps on EDSA after securing funds, its chairperson said on Monday.

MMDA chairperson Benhur Abalos said the funding was discussed with Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade, Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar, and Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte.

And of course, nagpasabi po si Mayor Joy Belmonte,” he said in an interview on GMA News’ Unang Balita.

Earlier, MMDA said elevated busways will be set up on EDSA to improve traffic flow following the closure of some U-turn slots that motorists blamed for heavy traffic.

According to Abalos, the bus ramps will be placed above U-turn slots so private vehicles could easily make a U-turn below them.

Abalos said, after some documentation, the MMDA can already start the project. —KG, GMA News
