DITO faces complaint for allegedly constructing cell tower in Malabon sans permit

The engineering department of the Malabon City government filed Monday a criminal complaint against DITO Telecommunity Corporation for allegedly constructing cell tower without the necessary business permit.

The complaint for alleged violation of Section 301 of Presidential Decree 1096 or the National Building Code of the Philippines was filed before the Malabon City Prosecutor's Office on Monday morning, Engineer Daniel Salvador confirmed to GMA News Online.

Salvador said their office sent violation notices to DITO on December 2, 8, and 9, 2020 but the latter supposedly did not acknowledge them.

"Actually kanina nasa piskalya pa 'yung usapin... next Monday po, magsa-submit ulit kami ng reply doon sa ginawa nilang affidavit..." Salvador said.

"Ang alam ko po ngayon naga-apply sila ng permit pero di pa rin po yata natatapos dahil maraming kulang sa mga document nila," he added.

Reports said at least eight individuals were nabbed on December 14, 2020 for constructing a cell tower without permit in Barangay Tinajeros.

GMA News Online asked DITO for comment regarding the matter. It has yet to reply as of posting time.—AOL, GMA News
