Taguig City's deputy warden nabbed for alleged rape of tenant

National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) agents on Tuesday arrested an official of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology for allegedly raping one of his tenants in Leveriza, Pasay City.

According to John Consulta’s report on “24 Oras,” the NBI identified the suspect as Jail Senior Inspector Ramon Carolino, the current deputy warden of the Taguig City Jail.

According to the victim, the rape occurred after a drinking session on the midnight of January 16.

The victim said the suspect, who is her landlord, raped her in the room she was renting in Pasay.

“Hinihipuan siya sa maseselang parte ng katawan niya and tutukan siya ng baril, no. ‘Huwag kang papalag, papatayin kita.’ ‘Yung experience niya, traumatic talaga. ‘Yung injuries niya, actually that was the basis, no, kung bakit we acted on it,” NBI division chief Atty. Ross Galicia said.

Authorities retrieved the clothes of the suspect and other evidence.

GMA News has reached out to the suspect for comment.

In his statement in inquest proceedings, however, the suspect denied forcing the victim and claimed that no rape occurred.

“The prosecutor’s office of Pasay City, sustained ‘yung findings nung NBI. So he’s already in jail, and I don’t think he will be able to post bail. A rape is committed when we use deadly force. Ang penalty diyan is life imprisonment,” Galicia said.

“That’s one, and number two, he’s a member of a law enforcement agency. So that’s what makes it more, makes it worse, no,” he added. -Ma. Angelica Garcia/NB, GMA News
