Makatizens show opposition to offer of free Sinovac vaccine

Makati City government's announcement offering free anti-COVID vaccine Sinovac from China has been met with adverse remarks hogging the comments section of the local government's Facebook post.

In a post early on Saturday, the city government announced its opening of the registration for the free Sinovac doses.

Likewise, the announcement said that the free Sinovac vaccine offer is made through the national government vaccination program, and that it follows the order of "priority sectors" as laid down by the IATF and the Department of Health.

But a huge majority of Makati residents who commented on the post expressed opposition to Sinovac and said they prefer AstraZeneca and other vaccine products not from China.

One comment said: No to SINOVAC, Yes to Astra Zenica and Moderna.

Another commenter said: I thought Astra Zeneca is for Makati? NO TO SINOVAC OR ANY CHINA PRODUCTS!!!

Also, another Makatizen said: Katakot po ang Sinovac mas ok po Yung Pfizer...

Para sa Makatizens na gustong mag-register para sa free SinoVac Covid-19 Vaccine mula sa National Government, pumunta...

Sinovac vaccine is produced by a Beijing-based pharmaceutical company that is now well into the global race to COVID-19 vaccine.

On the other hand, AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine is developed by Oxford University in the United Kingdom. —LBG, GMA News
