MMDA: Minors in NCR banned outdoors starting March 17 amid rising COVID-19 cases

Minors will be prohibited to go outdoors in the National Capital Region starting on Wednesday, March 17, amid the rising cases of COVID-19, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said.

In a statement on Tuesday, the MMDA said the Metro Manila Council (MMC) is drafting a resolution for the stricter measure.

“Only individuals aged 18-65 years old are allowed to go outside their residences amid the alarming rising number of COVID-19 cases in Metro Manila starting tomorrow, March 17,” it said.

“The MMC, through the MMDA, is drafting a resolution prohibiting minors, particularly aged 15-17, to go outdoors for a period of two weeks,” it added.

The resolution will cover all the 17 local government units in NCR.

MMDA chairperson Benhur Abalos said the Metro Manila mayors made the decision to curb the transmission of the coronavirus in the region. — Joviland Rita/RSJ, GMA News
