Manila's Bambang running low on supply of oxygen tanks

The supply of oxygen tanks in Manila's Bambang area is running low amid the resurgence in the number of COVID-19 cases.

According to Dano TIingcungco’s report on “24 Oras” on Wednesday, a supplier in area known for medical supplies and equipment said they had been running low on oxygen tanks since the Holy Week.

Prices of oxygen also went up due to its high demand.

The Department of Health reminded suppliers to regulate the sale of oxygen tanks because hospitals might run out of supply.

The DOH also called on the public to prevent storing oxygen tanks at home.

“Maybe people think the oxygen tank is very simple to administer but there is an appropriate level of oxygen that should be given to a person based on his or her condition," DOH spokesperson Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said.

“If your doctors advise you that you need oxygen then that’s the time you get oxygen,” she added.

The country has so far recorded a total of 819,164 cases of COVID-19 including 646,404 recoveries, 14,059 deaths and 158,701 active cases. --Ma. Angelica Garcia/NB, GMA News
