Victim left blind in one eye after being run over by Pateros fire truck

The Pateros local government vowed that it would investigate the fire truck crash which injured a woman and damaged a vehicle in the locality.

According to Jun Veneracion's Tuesday "State of the Nation" report, security cameras recorded how a Pateros-Bureau of Fire Protection truck came roaring down a Barangay Magtanggol street and hit one of two women who were walking along the sidewalk.

Victim Annie Tiar was badly hurt in the incident and was now blind in one eye.

After the truck hit Tiar, it also rammed into a parked car and almost hit a motorcyclist.

Tiar's companion, identified as Sam, said the fire truck did not have its sirens on.

Chief Inspector Karl Blando of BFP Pateros, for his part, said they would help the victim with her medical bills.

Fire Officer 2 Ramon Lactao II, the fire truck's driver, was detained and underwent inquest proceedings for the charges to be filed against him. — Consuelo Marquez/DVM, GMA News
