San Juan LGU urges city’s businesses to offer discounts to vaccinated citizens

San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora on Monday signed an executive order to encourage businesses in the city to give discounts and privileges to citizens who have already been inoculated against COVID-19.

Under Executive Order No. 82 series of 2021, businesses are encouraged to give incentives to customers, who will present their vaccine cards.

"This is a win-win situation for both the vaccinee and the business establishment as the vaccinee will enjoy a discount or privilege while the businesses will have more foot traffic in their stores with everyone with vaccine cards now becoming a potential customer," said Zamora  on Facebook.

Interested business owners who want to join the city's initiative may coordinate with the city's Business Permits and Licensing Office, Zamora also said.

Businesses who will participate in the initiative will be given a Vaccination Incentive Program Participation Certificate, which can be visibly seen by customers.

The San Juan government will also post on official social media the list of establishments giving incentives to vaccinated customers.

In a bid to increase vaccine confidence, the Las Piñas government also started a raffle for vaccinated residents, who could win a house and lot or motorcycles. — Consuelo Marquez/BM, GMA News
