QC has yet to start vaccinating A4 pending arrival of vaccines

The Quezon City government still has not started vaccinating those in the A4 priority group or the essential workers.

Quezon City Task Force Vax to Normal Co-Chair Joseph Juico told GMA News that the city still does not have vaccines for A4.

“When we met with NVOC (National Vaccination Operations Center) this morning, the target is for them to deliver hopefully within the day. The exact amount of vaccines will be determined siguro when it gets to the warehouse of Quezon City. And then after which, we can already roll out for a4,” Juico said.

There are 78,000 to 79,000 businesses registered in Quezon City.

“Our target is to generate herd immunity by September or October for the entire city, reaching 80%. And that also includes na rin 'yung ating mga A4," Juico said.

Eighty percent is equivalent to 2.1 million to 2.2 million individuals.

Juico added that if the vaccines arrive on Wednesday, the local government can then open the online booking for A4 and start vaccinating those in the A4 priority group on Friday.

He stressed that walk-ins will not be allowed.

“Bubuksan lang namin 'yan kung marami nang bakuna. Ayaw pa muna namin ng walk-in because marami pa namang naka-register sa aming online booking system,” he explained.

(We will just allow walk-ins if we already have a lot of vaccines on hand. We don't want to allow walk-in at this time since there are still a lot of people registered through our online booking system.)

The government kicked off on Monday the COVID-19 vaccination of the A4 group or the workforce estimated at 35 million, which officials said is the first step to economic recovery.

Vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. on Tuesday expressed optimism that all workers belonging to the A4 priority group for COVID-19 vaccination will get their first dose by September this year. —KG, GMA News
