Security measures in place for 160th birth anniversary of Jose Rizal

Security measures and traffic re-routing were put in place within the Rizal Park area in Manila for the celebration of the 160th birth anniversary of the country's national hero Jose Rizal on Saturday morning.

Police Brigadier General Leo Francisco of the Manila Police District said police personnel were deployed along the perimeter of Rizal Park, according to a report by Carlo Mateo on Dobol B TV.

The move is part of preparations for the wreath laying ceremony that will take place early Saturday morning.

The activity will be spearheaded by Manila Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna with National Park Executive Committee director Cecil Romero.

The traffic within the area will also be rerouted. The portion of Roxas Boulevard from Katigbak Drive to T.M. Kalaw Street will be closed to traffic. BAP/KG, GMA News
