New COVID-19 cases in NCR 2% lower than last week —OCTA

The average number of new coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in the National Capital Region (NCR) from July 6 to July 12 was 2% lower than last week’s cases, the OCTA Research group said Tuesday.

In its latest report, OCTA said the NCR had an average of 634 new cases this week, lower than the average of 646 cases recorded last week.

“Over the past three weeks, the weekly growth rate has averaged -3%, which indicates that the trend is nearly level or flat,” OCTA said.

The group also said the reproduction number in NCR was recorded at 0.93 over the same period. A reproduction number of one or higher is an indication of the continuous transmission of the virus.

Meanwhile, the average daily attack rate (ADAR) in the NCR was recorded at 4.59 per day per 100,000 while the positivity rate remained at 6% with 22,000 tests per day.

According to OCTA, 35% of hospital beds in NCR are occupied, 42% of ICU beds are being utilized, and 30% of mechanical ventilators are in use.

The Philippines has reported a total of 1,478,061 confirmed COVID-19cases, of which 1,402,918 have recovered and 26,015 have died.

LGUs

The OCTA Research said all local government units in NCR are classified as moderate risk “as all the LGUs had incidence rates below 10.”

Data from the group showed that Pateros had the lowest number of new cases with 2 while Quezon City had the highest number of new cases with 123.

Meanwhile, Makati City had recorded the highest ADAR with 8.80.

The group also noted that Caloocan, Marikina, Pateros, Valenzuela, Malabon, Quezon City, Manila and Navotas had ADAR lower than 5 per day per 100,000, which is close to being classified as low risk for COVID-19.
