DUE TO SPIKE IN COVID-19 CASES

2 Navotas villages on lockdown from Aug. 3 to Aug. 16 — Mayor Tiangco

Two villages in Navotas City were placed under strict coronavirus lockdown from August 3 to August 16, following a spike in virus infections, City Mayor Toby Tiangco said Monday.

On Facebook, Tiangco said Barangay Tanza 1 and Barangay Tanza 2 will be on hard lockdown from 12 midnight of August 3 to 5 a.m. of August 16.

"Kamakailan lang, nagsagawa ng community testing sa lugar at nakita na sa 174 na resulta ng swab tests mula sa Red Cross, 44 o nasa 25% ang nagpositibo," Tiangco also wrote in his post.

(Recently, we conducted community testing in the areas and out of 174 swab test results from the Philippine Red Cross, 44 or 25% turned positive for COVID-19.)

As of Aug. 1, Barangay Tanza 1 reported 53 active cases while Barangay Tanza 2 reported 37 active cases of the severe respiratory disease.

Malacañang had declared that Metro Manila will be under the strictest classification of community quarantine from Aug. 6 to Aug. 20.
