COVID-19 cases arriving in family groups in some isolation centers

With the dramatic spike in coronavirus disease infections,  some isolation centers are already accepting family groups who are all positive for SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes the respiratory illness.

One of them is the family of Grace Condicion, who is currently staying in Pasig City's Isolation Facility.

Interviewed in a report by Ian Cruz on  "24 Oras," Condicion said they started experiencing COVID-19 symptoms such as loss of appetite, cold and cough after her father-in-law died of the respiratory disease.

Eleven members of the Condicion family, including Grace, contracted the illness. The youngest member to catch COVID-19 is an eighth-month-old baby.

"Nangangamba po talaga baka mayroon pa pong mawala sa amin... 'Wag naman po sana. (We are worried that one of us might die. I hope it won't happen.)," she said in a video call.

She also warned other families to be cautious and observe minimum health standards, adding that it is difficult to get infected with the disease.

Public Works Secretary Mark Villar said occupancy rate of isolation centers in Metro Manila was at 55% while in Calabarzon, isolation facility occupancy is at 76%.

He further said they will not be complacent, adding that they will build more isolation centers.—Consuelo Marquez/LDF, GMA News
