55 areas under lockdown in QC due to COVID-19 cases

Fifty-five areas in Quezon City have been placed under special concern lockdown due to the rise in the number of COVID-19 cases, the local government unit said Tuesday night.

The areas are in different barangays, but the LGU clarified that the lockdowns are not for entire barangays.

Some of the areas have been under lockdown since the first week of August.

The LGU said it will provide food packs and essential kits to affected families.

Residents in special concern lockdown areas will also undergo swab testing and mandatory 14-day quarantine.

Quezon City's total validated COVID-19 cases were at 117,476 as of Tuesday.

Of this number, 7,569 are active; 108,636 recovered; and 1,271 passed away.
