Chinese victims given to another kidnapper group after ransom payment

After the ransom demand for their freedom was paid, two Chinese nationals were given to another group of kidnappers for another demand before they were rescued by the Pasay City Police on Thursday.

According to Marisol Abdurahman’s report on “24 Oras,” victims Yue King Song and Miao Miao Chi were initially kidnapped in Las Piñas by a suspect posing as their employer.

“It appears that the victims were kidnapped while they were looking for a job after they applied online through telegram. Accordingly, the victims [met] their supposed employer in Las Piñas,” the spot report read.

“However, upon entering inside the vehicle of their supposed employer and at that moment, they were kidnapped at gunpoint,” it added.

The suspects stole 1.5 million yuan or about P11 million from the victims before they were handed to the second group in Pasay City.

“Nung wala na silang makuha, ipinasa ito dito sa isang grupo naman sa Pasay [When they couldn’t get anything anymore, they were passed to another group in Pasay],” Pasay Police chief Police Colonel Cesar Gablin Paday-Os said.

The Pasay group demanded a P400,000 ransom, which was paid by the victims’ families.

Two suspects from the second group and their Filipino accomplice, identified as Rolando Alvido Jr., were arrested by authorities. Two others were able to escape.

The suspects denied involvement in the crime. They were charged with kidnap-for-ransom on Thursday afternoon. — Joahna Lei Casilao/BM, GMA News
