Eleazar: Police ready to enforce granular lockdown in Metro Manila
The Philippine National Police on Monday said its personnel are ready to assist in enforcing the pilot testing of the granular lockdown in Metro Manila, which will start on September 8.
In a statement, PNP chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar said he ordered all concerned police commanders to coordinate with local government units (LGUs) regarding the measure.
“Ang pagpapatupad ng granular lockdown ay solusyon na nakikita ng ating pamahalaan na balansehin ang pagbubukas ng ekonomiya at ang kontrolin ang pagkalat ng COVID-19.”

The PNP said 51 barangays in Metro Manila are currently imposing granular lockdowns.
He urged the public to cooperate with the government’s measures and regulations to prevent the surge of COVID-19 infections not only for their own safety but also for their families.
On Sunday, Interior Secretary Eduardo Año said the pilot testing for the granular lockdown in Metro Manila would begin on September 8.
Trade and Industry Secretary Ramon Lopez favored granular lockdown as it will allow more establishments and businesses to operate amid the threat of the pandemic.
The national government has committed to helping LGUs in providing food assistance to residents that will be affected by the granular lockdown. — BM, GMA News
