NCR back to 0.94 COVID-19 reproduction number —OCTA

Metro Manila's COVID-19 reproduction number returned to 0.94 on September 27 from 0.98 which was recorded on September 26, OCTA Research Group said Tuesday.

On Twitter, the think tank also said the goal for Metro Manila is to decrease fresh virus cases to 3,000 daily.

"Based on data on 09.27.21 (Sept. 27), the reproduction number in the NCR decreased back to 0.94 while the 7-day average decreased to just 4,083,"  said Dr. Guido David, OCTA Research Fellow.

A reproduction number that is below 1 indicates that the transmission of the virus is slowing down.

To date, the total COVID-19 cases in the country reached 2,522,965 including 132,139 active infections,  2,353,140 recoveries, and 37,686 fatalities.

The government previously said it would include antigen tests in its active case tally but it would still be subjected to confirmatory tests.

David said if antigen tests will be included, it "could add more" to the daily cases of Metro Manila.

"It depends on how many antigen tests are conducted," he also told GMA News Online in a message.—AOL, GMA News
