DILG reminds establishments to check customers’ vaccination cards as NCR shifts to Alert Level 3

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) on Thursday reminded establishments to check the vaccination cards of their customers ahead of the easing of COVID-19 restrictions in Metro Manila this weekend.

“Especially in indoor establishments. The personnel should demand vaccination cards from all dine-in customers,” DILG spokesperson Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya said in a text message to GMA News Online.

Alert Level 3 will be imposed over the National Capital Region from October 16 to 31.

Under Alert Level 3, several establishments will be allowed to operate at 30% indoor venue capacity for fully vaccinated individuals only and 50% outdoor venue capacity, provided that all employees are fully vaccinated.

Meanwhile, Malaya said the government would have a “grand launch” of the digital COVID-19 vaccination certificate system by the end of the month.

Malaya did not give further details.

On October 4, Interior Secretary Eduardo Año reported to President Rodrigo Duterte that 232,289 out of 368,386 individuals who availed of the service so far through the VaxCertPH portal received their vaccination certificates.

The portal began its pilot run in Metro Manila and Baguio last month. — Joviland Rita/VBL, GMA News
