Some quarantine facilities in Pasig closing down with fewer COVID-19 cases

Quarantine facilities in Pasig City are no longer overwhelmed following the continued decrease in COVID-19 cases in Metro Manila.

According to Ian Cruz's report on "24 Oras" on Wednesday, the gym in Rizal High School, which was at full capacity during the surge in cases in August, is now at ease.

Some of the quarantine facilities in the city also closed down as cases drop.

From 450 patients during the surge, the centralized quarantine facility in the city now only caters to 25 patients.

Despite the low number of patients, the local government said it will not close the centralized facility.

"Kailangan prepared kami sa darating because kita naman 'yong trend na bumababa siya tapos aangat ulit so at least we're ready at any rate," Anna Galutera, facility manager, said.

Further, healthcare workers will also turn over some classrooms to schools as they do not need them anymore as quarantine facilities.

The local government said the occupancy rate of the ward beds and isolation beds in the city this month has been the lowest this year. Only 8.34% of the total 102,498 beds are occupied.—Ma. Angelica Garcia/LDF, GMA News
