Ex-senator, actor Revilla in ICU after stroke

MANILA, Philippines - Former Sen. Ramon Revilla Sr. suffered a stroke while undergoing a checkup at the St. Luke's Medical Center in Quezon City on Tuesday, a radio report said. The report quoted the former movie star’s son, Sen. Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr., as confirming that his father is in "critical condition" at the hospital's intensive care unit. The younger Revilla said it was the second time his father had suffered from a stroke. The Revilla family said they were asking the public to pray for the former senator, the report added. The report said that Revilla, who was still catching his breath when he spoke to reporters, rushed to the St. Luke’s Medical Center from the Asian Hospital in Alabang, Muntinlupa. The younger Revilla himself had been confined at the Muntinlupa hospital since Monday due to coughs and colds. The older Revilla currently sits as the chairman of the Philippine Reclamation Authority, the former Philippine Estates Authority. The incident forced the young Revilla, chairman of the Public Works Committee, to skip a Senate hearing, which was instead presided over by Sen. Juan Miguel Zubiri. - GMANews.TV
