Quiapo priest: Herbal medicine vendors selling abortion pills

A Catholic priest in Manila claimed that there are vendors of herbal medicines near Manila's Quiapo Church who are allegedly selling abortion pills. Quiapo Church rector Msgr. Jose Clemente Ignacio said city officials should put a stop to this trade which Catholics are against. “It’s an organized criminal activity by different groups," he said in an interview on Church-run Radio Veritas on Thursday. Excerpts of the interview were posted on the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) news site. According to a CBCP news article, Ignacio made the statement ahead of a protest rally outside the Manila City Hall on Friday to condemn the sale of abortion pills. Early on Friday, dzBB's Carlo Mateo reported Black Nazarene devotees brought a streamer to the church with the message "No to abortion." - VVP, GMA News
