NAIA-3 security system questioned after Tulfo, Santiago brawl

The violence that broke out between columnist Mon Tulfo and celebrity couple Raymart Santiago and Claudine Baretto at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 on Sunday has raised questions about the facility’s security system. Manila International Airport Authority spokesperson Connie Bungag admitted on Tuesday that the CCTV cameras in NAIA Terminal 3 are not functioning. But authorities insist the cameras are not necessary to secure the airport.   Transportation and Communications Secretary Mar Roxas noted on Tuesday the incident that happened on Sunday do not happen every day at the airport.   “Terminal three is secure against terrorism, against drugs. ‘Yung bad behavior ay hindi kami nakatutuk diyan.”   The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) said they are repairing the CCTV cameras as part of the NAIA-3 upgrade.   "… [T]he CCTV system is actually the top priority,” MIAA spokesperson Connie Bungag said.   The CCTV cameras in NAIA-3 are not working because they are old and were the first cameras installed in the facility, according to MIAA. —AGM/VS/HS, GMA News
