OFW in Bahrain tried to commit suicide twice

BAHRAIN, Saudi Arabia - A Filipino woman has been admitted to a psychiatric hospital in Bahrain after attempting to commit suicide, twice, while at the Philippine embassy building in Zinj, Bahrain, the Gulf Daily News online reported Thursday. Rahma Mindal, 32, was reportedly brought to a Bahrain mental hospital for observation after she first attempted to jump from the first-floor of the two-storey building in Zinj on March 24. She attempted to jump again on March 28 but was prevented by other Filipino workers who were at the embassy. Her employer said Mindal worked as a housemaid. She said Mindal always felt ill. "A few hours after we left, she tried jumping out of the window but the other workers seeking shelter at the embassy managed to stop her," said Mindal’s employer. "And then she tried doing it again after four days and was stopped again by the workers. The Philippine embassy in Bahrain said they were working closely with the employer to send the maid back to the Philippines as soon as doctors certify that she is fit enough to travel. Embassy records show that Mindal arrived in Saudi Arabia to work for the Bahraini family last October 10. It said Mindal dad personal problems that led to her depression in the past few weeks.-GMANews.TV
