Jinggoy says he's too 'sexy' for a wheelchair

He's too "sexy" for a wheelchair.

Senator Jinggoy Estrada made this joke on Monday when asked about his health condition after a plunder complaint was filed against him for his alleged involvement in the P10-billion pork barrel scam.

"Bakit naman ako magwi-wheelchair e sumesexy na nga ako?" Estrada quipped during a press conference.

A plunder complaint was filed against Estrada and his fellow senators Ramon Bong Revilla Jr. and Juan Ponce Enrile on Monday afternoon with the Office of the Ombudsman for their alleged involvement in the pork barrel scam.

Estrada made this statement a few days after the scam's principal whistleblower, Benhur Luy, told a Senate inquiry that he once visited the office of a senator with the code name "sexy." He did not identify the senator, but described him as a "male" who considerably lost weight.

Luy said he retrieved from the senator's office documents authorizing the transfer of pork barrel funds to non-government organizations (NGOs) linked with alleged scam mastermind Janet Lim-Napoles.

During the press conference, Estrada also vowed to face accusations against him and not to leave the country while his plunder complaint is being deliberated upon.

"I will never leave the country... Sasagutin ko ang lahat ng mga akusasyon sa tamang lugar," he said.

Estrada also maintained that implementing agencies are the ones responsible of checking the track record of NGOs that receive the pork barrel funds and not lawmakers themselves. — Andreo Calonzo/KBK, GMA News
