NAIA resumes runway operations as Glenda leaves Metro Manila

The worst of Typhoon Glenda (Rammasun) seemed over now for Metro Manila and nearby provinces, prompting the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) to declare runway operations at Ninoy Aquino International Airport safe to resume.

"According to CAAP: Normal landing and takeoff operations at NAIA resumed at 10:40 am today,  July 16," the Department of Transportation and Communication said on its Twitter account.

The aviation agency suspend runway operations at NAIA earlier Wednesday as Typhoon Glenda barreled through Metro Manila and nearby provinces.

Glenda is the strongest typhoon to hit the Philippines so far this year, packing maximum sustained winds of 150 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 180 kph.

The typhoon has weakened as of this posting.
