Junjun Binay wants public apology from Trillanes

Makati City Mayor Junjun Binay wants a public apology from Senator Antonio Trillanes IV if the allegations of overpricing in the construction of a parking complex in the city are proven false.

In a report from GMA's “24-Oras” program on Wednesday, Binay said Trillanes should apologize since he practically already branded Binay's father, Vice President Jejomar Binay, a thief.

The Vice President and the Mayor are facing plunder charges in connection with the alleged overprice in the building construction.

According to the mayor, they have already received the committee's invitation for an inquiry.

He said they are currently studying the possible implications on the plunder case against them if they decide to attend the inquiry. Binay also denied anew the allegations against him and his father.

The elder Binay was the mayor of Makati when the construction of the 11-storey parking building that the city government supposedly built for P1.56 billion was initiated.

“Kung walang ebidensiya, ibig sabihin talagang politika din. Kung meron naman tayong nakitang ebidensiya aba delikado yun. Kasi kung 'yung magiging presidente natin ay magnanakaw pala kailangan malaman ng taong bayan yun,” Trillanes said.

He has yet to give a statement on Binay's request for a public apology. —Andrei Medina/NB, GMA News
