Abigail Binay: Persons who want to take control of Malacañang financing Senate probe

Makati Rep. Abigail Binay on Thursday said the Senate Blue Ribbon Subcommittee hearing on the alleged corrupt activities of her father Vice President Jejomar Binay is financed by individuals out to take control of Malacañang in 2016 through certain candidates.

"Hindi naman nila ginagawa ito in aid of legislation... Bakit ang haba? Pangalawa, sa tingin n'yo ba walang financier o backer na nagpapaikot ng senate hearing na ito? Kaya ako nandito para sabihin sa inyo na oo may backer, oo merong financier," Makati City 2nd District Rep. Abigail Binay said in a report that aired on "24 Oras" on Thursday.

The vice president has already said before that he would run for presidency next election.

GMA News is still trying to get a reaction from Interior Secretary Manuel Roxas and senators Alan Peter Cayetano and Antonio Trillanes IV.

Roxas has been reported to be eyeing the presidency as the administration bet in 2016.

Cayetano and Trillanes, who are among those leading the investigation in the Senate, have indicated their plans to run for higher office.

The personalities have long denied engaging in a demolition job to keep Vice President Binay from winning the presidency. —Trisha Macas/NB, GMA News
