Duterte breaks security cordon, talks to media in Cebu

President-elect Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday has apologized for being restricted after his private thanksgiving party in Cebu City.

A report by Ian Cruz on GMA News TV's "State of the Nation with Jessica Soho" said that after his private thanksgiving party, Duterte unexpectedly went out of the venue and greeted the crowd and some members of the local media waiting outside Cebu Country Club.

He spoke to them in Cebuano and said sorry.

"Sorry kaayo na kontrolado na ang akong [lihok]. Dili man na sila magpabuot. Sila man ang magbuot sa akong [lihok]. Naay panahon na magsugnod ta ani (My movements are restricted. They cannot be dictated. They plan my movements. There will come a time that we will discuss this)," he told reporters.

He was referring to the Presidential Security Group (PSG).

Duterte last public appearance was on Saturday for his victory party at the Crocodile Park in Davao City. — Trisha Macas, BAP, GMA News
