New PCSO, MinDA chairmen take oath before Duterte


President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday led the oath-taking of more than 43 appointees including the new chairmen of Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) and the Mindanao Development  Authority.

The new PCSO chairman is retired police director Jose Jorge Corpuz. He will replace former lawmaker Erineo Maliksi for the post.

Corpuz retired in 2015 after serving as the Director for Integrated Police Operations for Southern Luzon.

Duterte also appointed Datu Abul Khayr Alonto as the chairman of the Mindanao agency.

University of the Philippines (UP) professor J. Prospero de Vera III will be a commissioner of the Commission on Higher Education. De Vera has served as the UP vice president for public affairs.

Other appointees who took their oath also include Department of Transportation spokesperson Cherie Mercado-Santos as well as Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) general manager Thomas Orbos and assistant general manager Julia Catherine Nebrijia. —Trisha Macas/NB, GMA News
