President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday continued to lash out at leaders of the Catholic Church in the Philippines, calling them "full of shit."
He also presented a book exposing sins committed by the clergy while offering to resign if the allegations contained therein are proven to be untrue.
Duterte's latest tirade came during a dialogue with relatives of 44 police commandos who died during an operation in Mamasapano in 2015 as he continued to lament comments by church leadership against his administration's war on drugs.
During his speech, Duterte brought out a copy of “Altar of Secrets” by late journalist Aries Rufo, daring the public to judge his tirades against the Catholic institution after reading the book.
“I will make you a deal, basahin ninyo itong libro na ito and if I feel lahat halos nakabasa na ninyo, then go back to me and tell me binastos ko ang relihiyon ko at nagsisinungaling ako and I will resign. I will resign,” he said.
“Basahin ninyo ‘yan. Ngayon, kung magsabi kayo ‘pag nabasa ninyo nagkamali ako, anak ng jueteng, mag-resign ako… Basahin ninyo ito pagkatapos kung sabihin ninyo nagsinungaling ako at wala ‘yung how do you say the basis in Tagalog? Wala kayong karapatan magmura magre-resign ako. Walang problema,” he added.
Duterte continued his tirade, again reiterating his claim that he was abused by a priest when he was still a student of Ateneo de Davao University. He claimed that three Cabinet secretaries were also molested.
“Hamunin ko kayong lahat bishops conference mag-resign tayo bukas sabay-sabay. Okay? Resign. Ako mauna. I will deliver my letter of resignation hintayin ninyo kayong media. On bended knees ilagay ko sa kay Rizal diyan sa Luneta as a Filipino. Lagay ko diyan pulutin ninyo provided lahat ng bishops mag-resign kayo, mag-resign kayo pareho lang ang baho natin,” he said.
“Sige daw be, explain to me. Ito writer ninyo ito, CBCP narrator ninyo. Nauna kayo. Ako walang problema magsabi, I challenge you now, I challenge the Catholic Church, you are full of shit at mabaho rin kayong lahat, corruption and all,” he added.
Earlier in the speech, he focused his ire of Novaliches Bishop Emeritus Teodoro Bacani.
"Ang opening remarks si Bacani. P— inang Bacani na iyan, dalawa pala ang asawa. Pareho ko. Parang mayor din ang buang. Tapos kung magsalita itong mga unggoy na ito, 't— ina," said Duterte.
In his speech at the World Apostolic Congress on Mercy, Bacani had criticized the rising death toll in the Duterte administration's war on drugs, calling the PNP a "bringer of death." —JST, GMA News
