Duterte teases Gordon on becoming next PHL president

President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday teased Senator Richard Gordon on becoming the country's next president.

At the launch of the Philippine Red Cross' humanitarian ship, Duterte referred to the PRC chairman as "the incoming president of the Republic of the Philippines.

His remarks were met by cheers and laughter among senators, congressmen, and naval officers present during the event.

Duterte added that Gordon was one of the two people he dreaded to be when they talked.

"There are two persons I dread to be with when they are talking, one was...he wasn't able to hurdle the Commission on Appointment," Duterte said.

"Second is... the diction is perfect, the voice is good, but the drawl is not even American, it's not Texan, it's a little bit of Ilocano ang pagsalita. No offense intended, Mr. President Gordon," he added in apparent jest.

Gordon ran for president in 2010, but lost to former President Benigno Aquino III.

Duterte said it was only a matter of years before Gordon became president.

"You have to give it to Senator... President Gordon. I have to get used to it. It's only about few more years," Duterte said. —NB, GMA News
