Faeldon willing to waive bank secrecy rights

Former Customs Commissioner Nicanor Faeldon on Thursday said he is willing to sign a document waiving his right to bank secrecy for investigation purposes.

"Yes po. I will sign a waiver right now. Right now. Anybody. Every records of me, banks and everything, you are free. I want. Any banks account, any records of my properties, everything, please go, Senator Lacson," Faeldon said in an interview on News To Go.

"I will sign anything you want. I'll sign it. That's why I want you to investigate," he said, addressing Lacson who on Wednesday named him as one of the Bureau of Customs (BOC) officials allegedly receiving payola.

Lacson also said that Faeldon promoted corrupt practices at the BOC, even mentioning a report that the former rebel officer received a P100-million payoff as a welcome gift shortly after he assumed the post in 2016.

"'Yan po ay isang nakakatawa. Hindi ko lang pinasisinungalingan. It's really a ridiculous. It's really baseless," Faeldon said.

"That's why I pity the senator. He has become what he is today. Hindi ito 'yung pagkakakilala ko sa kanya. I worked for him when he was PAOCTF [Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Task Force] chief. That was not my impression of him at that time. That's why I texted him a while ago," he said.

"Sana si Senator Lacson imbestigahan niya 'yung kanyang sinabi kasi gusto ko naman talaga eh. I texted him, I want the truth to come out. Please investigate so that mabigyan mo rin ng hustisya 'yung mga inosente," Faeldon said.

The former Customs official admitted that he asked President Rodrigo Duterte three times to remove him from his post.

"Kaya ako, totoo, I asked three times the President, after he said that he trusts me. I asked him to kick me out, to remove me from Customs. Hindi ko kaya, 'di ko masikmura. This is not my place. Lahat na ng kaibigan ko, kaaway ko na eh. Lahat na ng kaibigan ko," he said.

"Because sinabi ko naman sa inyo ever since, when I assumed, when you asked me, ano ba alam niyo sa Customs? Sabi ko, wala. But I know one thing: I can say no to anybody, to everybody. I can say no. 'Yun lang ang ginagawa ko," he said.

"So I urge you to investigate it as urgently as you want to investigate the shipment of shabu," Faeldon added, again addressing Lacson.

"Let me make this very clear to everybody. I never asked for a government post. But it was really a challenge to me," he said.

Faeldon earlier held a press conference in his house in Taytay, Rizal, saying that Lacson's son was allegedly into big-time smuggling. Lacson denied the allegation.
