2 killed in Quezon province gun attack


A militiaman and a civilian were killed in a shooting incident on Wednesday night in Quezon province.

An initial report from the military identified the victims as  Manolito Alcantara, 48, a member of the Civilian Armed Force Geographical Unit (CAFGU), and Randy Alcantara, a small town lottery collector.

According to the military, the shooting incident took place at about 7:30 p.m. in Sitio Hacienda, Barangay Inabuan in San Francisco town.

Manolito and Randy were shot by suspected New People's Army member Joseph Delos Santos, alias "Ka Bingot," accompanied by two unidentified men.

Manolito died on the spot while Randy was rushed to a hospital, but died later while being treated.

Recovered from the crime scene were twelve empty shells from Cal-5.56; four empty shells from Cal. 9mm, one live ammunition of Cal.-5.56; and two slugs.

The military said that all the recovered pieces of evidence will be sent to the Philippine National Police Provincial Crime Laboratory for ballistic examination.

Bingot and two other companions are now subjects of a manhunt operation, while appropriated are being prepared against them. —Peewee Bacuño/LBG, GMA News
