Sacked MARINA exec says he respects Duterte’s decision to fire him

Erstwhile Maritime Industry Authority administrator Marcial Amaro III has said he respected his termination from the post by President Rodrigo Duterte.

"Kung ayaw na niya akong mag silbi for whatever reason, I have to go," Amaro said in an interview with GMA News' Cedric Castillo.

Presidential spokesman Harry Roque on Thursday announced that Duterte has let go of Amaro for going on 18 foreign trips in 2017.

"In 2016, he had six, or a total 24 travels," Roque said.
