‘WALA KAYONG MAKALKAL’

Duterte dares Congress to investigate his wealth

President Rodrigo Duterte is willing to let Congress probe his alleged wealth.

Before he left for India, Duterte in a speech at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport said that he wants to put an end to the issue.

"That is why I want to… Congress to proceed. Mag-imbestiga kayo. As a matter of fact ako ‘yung mismo nag-i-insist para malaman ninyo 'yung totoo. This endless suspicion. It’s about time that magharapan tayo. Kaya ko binibira lahat. Wala kayong makalkal sa akin," he said.

"Billions? Susmaryosep. To my billions, I’m going because I’m late," he added, before leaving the lectern to his chartered plane.

The statement came days after media organization VERA Files alleged the Duterte and his daughter Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio of failing to declare at least P100 million in joint deposits and investments in their statement of assets, liabilities, and net worth (SALN). VERA Files based their report on bank records they obtained.

Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said that VERA Files could not have obtained these documents because they are confidential. —NB, GMA News
