Police nab suspect in killing of ex-La Union congressman

Police have arrested a suspect in the killing of former La Union Second District Representative Eufranio "Franny" Eriguel, Philippine National Police chief Director General Oscar Albayalde confirmed on Tuesday.

Albayalde said that the suspect identified as Felizardo Villanueva alias Rambo was nabbed on Monday and is a barangay captain candidate in this year’s election in Capas, Agoo, La Union.

The suspect is currently detained at the Agoo Police Station.

“Parang away politikal ang nakikita,” Albayalde said.

Eriguel, who was shot several times during an ambush at Barangay Capas in Agoo, La Union on Saturday night.

His two bodyguards also died from several gunshot wounds, while eight other people were hurt. — MDM, GMA News
