Balajadia: Trillanes went peacefully with the police

Senator Antonio Trillanes IV left the Senate premises past 3 in the afternoon surrendering to National Capital Region Police Office chief Director Guillermo Eleazar who brought with him the arrest warrant issued by a Makati court.

Senate Sergeant-At-Arms, retired Army Major General Jose Balajadia, said Eleazar arrived at the Senate compound past 2 p.m. and presented to him the arrest warrant.

When Trillanes to the Senate lounge, Eleazar showed him the arrest warrant. The police official also recited to the senator his Miranda rights.

Balajadia said the two then went to the parking lot where Trillanes said that he would board the police car.

“Hindi pinosasan (si Trillanes), hindi ko nakita. Siya (Trillanes) mismo ang nagsabi na ‘dito na ako sa police car’ pero pinasamahan ko ng mga tao ko kung hanggang saan siya pupunta,” Balajadia told reporters.

“He (Trillanes) went inside the vehicle, walang gulo. He peacefully went inside the vehicle, sinamahan na siya ng mga pulis.  But I turned him over first, tinurn-over ko siya (sa pulis),” he added.

Senators Francis Pangilinan and Paolo Benigno Aquino IV accompanied Trillanes to the police station and later to the Makati court to post bail. — Amita Legaspi/RSJ, GMA News
