Panelo says Davao City lawyer eyed to replace SAP Bong Go

A lawyer from Davao City is being eyed to take over the position of senatorial aspirant Christopher Lawrence "Bong" Go as special assistant to the president.

Lawyer Charmalou Aldevera is being considered to replace Go for the position, presidential spokesperson Salvador Panelo told CNN Philippines in an interview on Tuesday.

"She's the one," Panelo said. "Lawyer yata siya. I don't know if I've met her, the name is not familiar but baka the face."

Go on Monday filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) for senator before the Commission on Elections on Monday, accompanied by no less than President Rodrigo Duterte himself.

According to Panelo, Go is considered "resigned from employment" upon filing his COC.

"Automatic yun, resigned ka from employment," he said.

Panelo said Duterte's basis for choosing Aldevera was "trust and confidence."

But Duterte would have to make an official announcement whether Aldevera would indeed replace Go in his former position.

"I think so," Panelo said when asked if Aldevera would certainly take over Go's post. "Ia-announce ni Presidente yun." —Erwin Colcol/KBK, GMA News
