Mom wants justice for death of her Dengvaxia-vaccinated child

The mother of the 14-year-old, Grade 7 student in Quezon province is crying for justice over the death of her daughter, who was vaccinated with Denvaxia, the controversial anti-dengue vaccine.

Krizha Agonia, 14, died last October 18 after being hospitalized for one month at the Quezon Medical Center in Lucena City.

Josephine, Krisha's mother, claimed that her daughter used to be a healthy child and had never been hospitalized.

But months after she got Dengvaxia shots she began to become sickly, always complaining of nausea, headaches, stomach ache, and a feeling of vomiting.

Due to the symptoms, she had been absent from school many times prior to her hospitalization, Josephine said.

Krisha had fallen ill and was brought to the hospital, and on October 18, she died.

Josephine told GMA News that at first she did not think the anti-dengue vaccine was the cause of Krisha's fatal illness.

But after watching television news reports about several deaths of children vaccinated with Dengvaxia, she realized that maybe, the vaccine caused Krisha's illness and eventual death.

Josephine said she brought the matter to the attention of the  Public Attorneys Office in Catanauan. The PAO, which has been at the forefront in the investigation of deaths of children who had taken the anti-dengue shots, responded to her request for autopsy.

PAO Chief Presida Acosta, together with the agency's forensics team, conducted an autopsy on Krisha's remains and noticed severe inflammation of the child's kidneys, lungs, and heart.

Also, the PAO team noticed severe bleeding in Krisha's brain.

The PAO claims that Krisha's case is the 104th they have examined among deaths of children that had received the vaccine.

Krizha, her mother said, had gotten two doses of Dengvaxia.
