Chair gets stuck to ceiling as barangay staff celebrates Catriona’s Miss U title

Filipinos from different walks of life had their eyes glued to TV screens and cheered whenever Catriona Gray cleared a stage and went on to the next in the beauty pageant in Bangkok.

All hell broke loose, however, in probably every screening party in the Philippines when host Steve Harvey announced Catriona's name as this year's Miss Universe.

According to Bernadette Reyes's report on GMA's 24 Oras, a group of beauty salon attendants already went wild upon hearing that Catriona made it to the Top 10.

In Manila, a chair got stuck on the ceiling of a barangay hall after the audience heard Harvey declare Catriona's victory.

"Di ko nga alam kung tatanggalin ko o ipe-permanente ko (ang naipit na upuan sa kisame). Biruin mo, memorable 'yan," Barangay Chairman King Ancheta said.

At a viewing party in Caloocan City, a group of friends even wore costumes to match the pageant vibe.

Kapuso actor Dingdong Dantes also captured the cheerful reactions of his colleagues who had their eyes glued on the TV screen.

The cast and crew of the upcoming GMA Public Affairs series "Toda One I Love," on the other hand, took a break from the shoot to watch the pageant.

A group of flight attendants also joined together and celebrated Cat's victory on taking home the most-coveted crown in the universe.
